A New Volunteer Resource
September 5, 2017
Neighbor Network is proud to announce our new partnership with Volunteer Connect of Douglas County, a platform that connects organizations in need of volunteers with the individuals in our community who are looking for ways to help. With this new resource, volunteers can find local community service opportunities by searching for their preferred location, area of interest and availability. Volunteer Connect was recently featured in the Douglas County News Press for their outstanding work in the community. Read the full article here. And search for "Neighbor Network" on the opportunities page here.
Volunteers in the Spotlight
August 2, 2017
Our All-Star Neighbor Network volunteers, Barb and Cy, received state-wide recognition from Volunteers of America (VOA) for their dedication to serving their community. Barb and Cy provide transportation and other services for Neighbor Network and Parker Senior Center members. "It’s far more than just providing a friendly ride to and from the clients house to the store; it is a relationship that is being developed and a friendship that has blossomed into something beautiful."
We are so proud to have these two amazing volunteers on our team!
Neighbor Network received recognition for its senior services in an article published in the Douglas County News Press.
"The process of aging is not just difficult emotionally and mentally, but also logistically, if seniors don't have a strong support system."

Douglas County older adults are discovering friendships and regaining their independence through Neighbor Network’s Companion Program. Last year, our volunteers provided over 700 hours of companionship services to seniors at risk of social isolation. Although the Companion Program is one of our most popular, it receives zero grant funds to keep it operating, just donations and kindness. In order to secure funding for the next year of the program, we are launching our first ever peer-to-peer fundraising campaign. Peer-to-peer fundraising is a more intimate way to raise money, where volunteers sign up to host a small event with their friends and family, taking a few minutes to share their experience and passion for the cause.
If you want to spread the word about our Companion Program and help us reach our fundraising goal for another year of senior companionship, sign up to become a Volunteer-Fundraiser by visiting
and click "Create A Team" then create a secure account. We'll reach out to you to make sure you have all the tools and support you need. Set your own goal, get creative, have fun! It's easy and makes a HUGE impact on our Douglas County seniors!
Parker Volunteer Meeting Success
August 22, 2017
Although we are facing a volunteer shortage in Parker, our current volunteers in that area continue to do outstanding work. Volunteer Manager, Lori O'Day, held an excellent meeting, where our Parker volunteers were able to socialize, learn and grow as volunteers. We are so happy with the work that they do and appreciate their commitment to Neighbor Network seniors.
Take Me Out
to the Ball Game!
July 21, 2017
There are few people in the world as active as our member, Linda V. She even comes out to support Neighbor Network staff members in their sporting events. Linda rode in the Neighbor Network van to come cheer on Care Manager, Kelsey Thiessen, in at her last softball game of the season. And the cheering worked, as Kelsey's team got the W!
Happy Birthday, Gene!

Our adored neighbor, Gene P., received a surprise celebration for his 90th birthday last week from one of our dedicated volunteers. We love to see the strong connections between our volunteer and client members!
